A recurring theme I’ve been seeing this week is the power of prayer, the power of your own manifestations, and how true self-love plays a big part. I am learning that putting yourself first isn't selfish and that no one is going to have your back quite like you. I used to think that sacrificing my own happiness in order to aid others was the right thing to do because that's what good people do. But then I realized, I was tired of being burned; always getting the short end of the stick. I’ve realized we’re all human, and human nature is selfish. Put yourself on, and make sure you're set first before you can rescue anyone else. A hard truth for me, as I’ve spent my whole life giving. I had to learn that it is not selfish to fill my own cup, but rather a selfless necessity. I have to take care of myself, and through my actions of caring for me, others can know and understand how to care for me as well (if that is what they want to do).
I stumbled into an ice cream shop yesterday. I have been craving ice cream for a few days now, and they’re not too many shops in my area. A quick google search led me to this local black-owned business. I sat and ate the best strawberry ice cream milkshake and cupcake I ever had while I chatted with the owner. He beamed with glee as he told me about how he only dreamed of this. How in a month he managed to find the perfect space and opened his shop within three weeks. He shared how he just had a daughter and found genuine support in a lifelong partner. I was happy for him! He was so proud, he said he only dreamed of this, and now he is living in his own manifestations. I left that shop with my cup and belly full, his own happiness in his manifestations was inspiring.
No matter what is going on around you, what it may feel like, be grateful for where you are in life. It happens so fast and you will never experience another moment quite like it. Be certain that when you put yourself first and focus on your own goals, true inner happiness will come. Troubles don't last forever, and everything has a season. This specific one may not be yours, but be grateful for the lessons of growth and change. You are the only one in charge of your life and your happiness and that means you gotta do whatever it takes to ensure you are happy, you are at peace, and in turn, you too will be sitting in a life that you can only dream of.
